HVAC Duct Testing

In almost all of the homes we see, the homeowners are very surprised to realize that they have been heating and cooling both their attic and crawl space through leaks in their HVAC ducts.  This is a tremendous waste of energy and money - conditioned air is escaping into unconditioned space and unconditioned (hot and humid or cold) air is being pulled into the HVAC system. 

Duct leaks can cause air and dangerous pollutants from the crawl space, garage and attic to be pulled into the living area; you and your family do not want to breathe this air.  Also, leaky ducts significantly increase other air leaks by creating unbalanced pressures in the house.

This is why sealing your HVAC ducts is an important part of both energy efficiency and healthy indoor air quality for your home.

We check HVAC ducts as part of our home energy audits and can also check them as a separate service.

We are approved vendors to check HVAC ducts for the Progress Energy HEIP Program (Home Improvement Energy Program).  Progress Energy will reimburse its customers up to $60 (or half the cost) for checking the first system and up to $30 (or half the cost) for the second system.  E-mail us for information about this service and the cost of combining it with a full energy audit.
